1960: The Flower Power culture brought out the popularity of marijuana.

Before marijuana became popular in the US, it was associated with Mexican workers, African-American jazz musicians and the beat generation.

In the 1950s, the beat generation may have started its popularization with their “free-spirited attitudes” that lead to the hippie revolution, but the Flower Power culture of the 1960’s is what really brought out the popularity of marijuana.
